Riding waves in Peru

Just got back from a month traveling along the North coast of Peru. Really liked it. I've  took some time to see Lima and visited Machu Picchu.

Here a couple shots of my trip. All the kiting shots are shot by Salah Calderon at Lobitos.

In two weeks i'll be of to South-Africa for 2 months :):)

Indo..

Since I’m not doing too much freestyle any more and just focusing on wave riding. I got to see a lot of new places.

I’ve spent all off October in Indo. It was my first time and did not really know what to expect. I was not really worried about the waves but more about the wind.
You can’t really predict the wind here you just have to go and wait and see. The first week the wind was too light and the waves where kind off small what was ok for me so I could get used to the spot and the reef.

After a week of surfing I was more then ready for some wind. I’ve travelled more the 25 hours so bring it on. All the waiting paid off. We got super lucky on the wind and waves. I was riding my 7m most off time. I’ve seen a lot of waves a long my travels but those waves where a different story. Such a beautiful and powerful wave. A wave to get scared of what is nice because it pushes me a lot to get out there and ride that monster.

My trip is filmed so you all can see the result on Naish KiteboardingTv.
Hope you’ll like it. And of course you can find it back on my website.

I’m traveling home in a few days will spent four days at home with family and friends and then I’m off to the north off Peru. Also a country I’ve never been before.

Keep you posted and rip it up

Girls ripping it up in the UK

Jo Wilson invited Jalou Langeree and Danielle Durrant to the UK for a taste of her hometown...showing that once again, you don't need to travel to the other side of the world to get some great kiting conditions in some amazing landscapes!

Paradise

Just got back from two weeks Mauritius. I got invited for the Kiteival and had a blast even thou we only had vive days of wind. We managed to do a big up/down winder to flat Island what is in the north of Mauritius. I've never felt so small during the trip to the island. The sea was very rough and the water was scary dark. But with more then twenty people out on the water it felt good cruising away of the coast for eleven kilometers. On our way we've spotted a few whales and heaps of flying fishes. Our arrival at flat island was amazing, a beautiful white sandy beach with waves breaking on the reef. We all had pretty tired legs after the crossing, but after a few hours on flat island we where ready to head back. Most locals went back with the boat because they where all in pain ;).. And the foreigners all went kiting back haha.

We where lucky that the wind kicked in for the weekend so we could do the competition. There where three different disciplines, course racing, wave riding and freestyle. Pretty cool to see all the local kids ripping it up.
Great vibes good organizations and lovely people.

I was stoked that I had a few more days after the event. I had a really good time hanging out with Nico Kux. He's one of the most sporty and motivated water people i've met in my life. For to weeks he's been showing us the surf spots, invited us to great bbq's,doing touristic stuff and even got the opportunity to go scuba diving.

My last day I went out at Le Morne on a ten meter and Nico showed me all the different breaks even had a little look at one eye. Wind was not quite stable to ride it and I felt pretty intimidated by that wave.

Unfortunately i've been riding my freestyle board more then my wave board what is a bummer. We just got really unlucky with the conditions. But that gives me a reason to come back next year and score some good waves at Le Morne.

Thanks to all the great people i've met in Maurtius.

X
Jalou

The UK

Just got back from the UK after a great three days of kiting with Jo Wilson and Danielle Durrant. It was an very last minute call. We've been waiting for the perfect conditions. And because it was such a last minute call we where on a pretty big mission on getting a cameraman for the trip. Luckily we managed to organize that in one day. All the way from Copenhagen Denmark Anders Kruger came to film us. Great effort THANKS :).

It was my second time visiting Jo in the UK and it keeps surprising me how stunning England is. Jo lives in Stavaley a small village what looks like a winter sports village based in the hills surrounded by big open fields and forest. Absolutely stunning.

We scored it big time on the weather and wind. Our first day we kited at Barrow and all three of us had a really good session. I mainly enjoyed it because I was riding with my good friend Jo. Always having good times on the water together. What also surprised me is that the tie is enormous. On low tie you have to walk at least ten minutes to get some water under your board.

The next day it was insanely windy. It looked like a typical day in South Africa when the wind blows from the south east. It was at least +30 knots. So we cruised around checked out some different spots even checked the Windermere what is this very pretty big lake. Wind was to gusty and couldn't really find a spot to make it happen. So we woke ourself up by jumping in BIKINI'S brrrrr into the water. Good wake up call after sitting in the car for a whole day. When we got back home, we went straight to the pub got some local beer and started doing some funny interviews. It's gonna be a very English episodes on NaishkiteboardingTV.

The last day we had a great session at the Sandscale a beautiful rivermouth in the middle of nowhere. Just the three of us on the water. Wind started very light we even had to walk up wind but we stayed patient and it payed of in the end. Nice riding, Danielle was on fire and feeling it and so was Jo.
Thanks for the British vibes and harmony i'll be back soon ;)

New quiver

Hello...!!

Received my new Naish  2012 kites, boards and harnesses a few weeks ago. Also this year i'm riding the Torches. Very happy about the kite it's a full on solid C kite that everyone will love. Big difference on the bar is that the strap is back, what I really like. Another thing to be happy about is that Naish made a women harness the Alana. The harness is colorful and is nice and furry so good for riding in bikini's 'girls'.

Been chilling at home for quite a bit what is pretty nice. I've been able to kite a lot back home and we even had some great days with waves. So not just kiting i've been supping, surfing, mountain biking all sports I enjoy. I don't even have to travel I have all conditions right on my homespot haha. My next trip will be Mauritius in two weeks. Gonna go and surf some real waves :) Can't wait.                                                                        Photos by: Ellen Langeree

Egypt

Helloooo..

Been at home quite a lot what is pretty nice for a change. But the wind was not that good back home so together with my brother we decided to train in Egypt for a week. We where staying at Somabay. Great spot not crowded, flat water and wind every single day. It's been a while since I've been riding perfectly flat water so I had a blast. Even i'm not doing that much freestyle any more I really enjoyed myself and it felt good busting out some new tricks.

After a week of training on flat water I really want to get back into the waves. I'll be keeping a close eye on the swell forecast in France and might make a little surf trip.

Alright stay tuned :)

KBO was once again a success

KBO was a great success it was amazing seeing everyone enjoying the wind, party and good vibes during the event. It was all about having fun on the water. I was really impressed by the amount of rookies that competed during the event. Those kids have lots of potential for the future. And it where not just the boys who where rocking it up. Thumbs up for all the girls :)

For the pro's there was an expression session. An expression session is a half hour of showtime. Showing the crowd and the judges what you've got.

It wasn't as warm as the previews KBO'S, but we got super lucky with the wind. And good that we manage to finish the competition. Everyone left the event happy and exited about the condition and so did I.
